“razing landscapes” is an ongoing body of work focused on the changing rural landscape. Through drawings of mostly abandoned and falling down structures, Stevenson explores not only how the rural landscape is changing but reimagines a life for the changing buildings that were once iconic parts of the rural Ontario landscape.
After returning to Huron County after years spent in Toronto, she began to examine how different the reality of the country was from the urban perspective of it. By capturing these buildings in their current state, she works to retain some of the history but also look to the future when these landmarks will no longer dot the countryside, and reimagines rural life of the past.
